Mapping your digital space

This is what my digital space looks like. Very categorized, like my life and apps on my phone. On my phone I have everything in groupings like: money, social, car, work, school, etc. I like to be organized and not have to search through a million pages just to find what I want. This describes my dads and brother phone. Every time I go on their phones I practically have a panic attack. The disorganization is real with them.

When finding the apps I use for each category it was actually hard to think what I truly use. I am sure there are more but I cannot think of them or they weren't important enough to make the cut. All the apps in my map are apps I use on the regular. I frequent Facebook, snapchat and dating apps the most. Yet I do not have notifications on for Facebook. I check it once daily, maybe post something but otherwise I am passively scrolling through. I use Gmail and google slides the most daily for work. I have my email up all day at work and then check it when I get home. To make sure I do not miss anything important. I am a little crazy, some would say. I do not reply to work emails after work but I will look. Facebook messenger is categorized under visitor because I only check it when I get a notification. Otherwise I rarely use it. Most the time it is my brother sending me some silly video. I put Yahoo on there because I do check this from time to time. I only use it for personal use and most of the time it is just junk email. I have a few things starred that I need but otherwise I check and forget. Maybe it should be in visitor because I only check when I get a notification.

I would say out of all the apps in my map I use snapchat the most. Little addicted but I send such cute photos of my animals! Next would be Facebook and then dating apps. I would also say I tend to use them more on the weekends than I do during the week. Once I get home from work I am exhausted and there is no room for social media in my brain.

In case anyone was wondering, I used google slides to create my map. I love google slides!

  1. Hey Kelsey!
I LOVE the way you laid out your digital map. It is so easy to understand for a visual person like me. Are there any apps or websites that you use in both your personal and professional time?
I too am someone who loves to keep things organized, even the apps on my phone. All my apps are categories and put into folders/categories. I like your idea of not having notifications on. This may be a game changer for me to maybe not check my social media as much. Thanks for the idea!

  3. Hello Kelsey!
I love your digital map and thanks for the tip on Google slides. I have no idea about some of the apps you put on your map. What is the one that looks similar to a honey comb? I had to do a Google search on some of them and couldn't find that one. I also have my email up all day or constantly check my Gmail on my phone. I am finally realizing I have an addiction to checking it. I hear the notification sound and it's like Pavlov's Classical Conditioning but with email dings.
