Introduction to me

Technology To reflect back on my time with this course it has been informative and creative. I would like to think that my views has changed about technology but I feel it stays the same.  Image source: personal photo I still think technology is interesting. It's something I use everyday personally and professionally. I would like to utilize it more in my classes with students but I am not sure how I would like to do that. I have always had a thought of having the students make a presentation in one my classes but we only have 4 computers for the students to use and I am not sure if you could use an iPad. I think blogging could be another interesting tool to incorporate. Maybe in my leisure course. We could make a class blog. That would be really cool!   My Digital Tattoo For this assignment I googled myself and went to many other websites to find out information about myself. However, I had not much luck. Either a site wanted you to pay for more information or there was none. This is not shocking to me, as I googled myself a few years ago and found out there really wasn't anything on me but, there was on another Kelsey Peters. It's funny to find out that my name is being used by a television show. The main character has my name in the show. So, when you google my name Hillary Duff shows up everywhere, because she is the actress that plays the role. I am unsure of what all the letters mean and to take the time to figure it out is not worth it to me, to be honest. However I took three different personality tests to figure it out. Either for earnings after doing work, communication needs or to complete work in class. Thinking about my class I chose five features that help my students on a daily basis. I chose to spotlight this app because it is a common tool that we all use on a daily basis but it has features that can help verbal and non-verbal people or visually impaired. This is interesting to me to look at because I notice in my own family how technology has changed and how each of us perceive it. My dad would be a baby boomer and he is actually pretty good with some technology. Far better than his friends. However, he works still and need to keep up with the times. My sister would be Gen X and again is good with technology. She needs to keep up for her job and her kids. Myself and brothers are Gen Y. I would say I am pretty good with technology and using it in my everyday life, especially at work when I am teaching. My older brother is far superior when it comes to knowing technology and how to utilize it. He keeps up with every new thing and is able to help his whole family with troubles. Active learning is a teaching method that involves the students actively participating in the learning process, rather than passively listening and learning. Active learning is becoming more common now with the use of technology and engaging the students. Instead of creating a slide deck and reading it word for word to your students, try creating a slide deck that has breakout times for students to discuss the topic and how they interpret it. As I learned from the module in class there are several different strategies that are housed under active learning.
