What is AI?

I chose to look at ChatGPT for this assignment. I have heard about this site but have never used it. Is this a source teachers and students use? I have so many questions and I am not sure who to ask, so I'll ask in general. This is a tool that can help find the answer to anything? Why is AI not solving the worlds problems, haha. Ok I'm sure it can not solve everything so I'll cool it there but from just opening it, it seems like the world is at my fingertips. 

I started off easy. I asked what is AI.
"Artificial Intelligence (AI) refers to the simulation of human intelligence in machines programmed to think and learn like humans. It encompasses various technologies, including machine learning, natural language processing, and robotics. AI can perform tasks such as problem-solving, understanding language, recognizing patterns, and making decisions based on data. Its applications range from virtual assistants and chatbots to autonomous vehicles and advanced data analysis." ChatGPT

I until now have thought AI to be some crazy smart super intelligent thing that is going to know everything about me and I refused to use it. Yet, in doing some research I have found out that AI is everywhere and it can be simple things like park/brake assist in cars. That is not where my mind goes when someone says AI but it is. I use AI everyday when I am using my fitness tracker watch. That's so crazy!

Now, to real it back in and talk about ChatGPT. This seems to be a cool site. You can ask a question, summarize text, get advise, brainstorm, aid in helping you write something and so much more.

When you open ChatGPT you start with this window. It gives you those options I talked about before or you can just type something in. Again, very cool. I am kind of geeking out about this. I know this has been around for awhile now but now using it myself, the possibilities I could think of. My first one is I get brain blocks, I know what I want to say but I cannot put it into words. This site I think would be helpful for that. I could see my students using this to help answer question more independently. Instead of the students always asking for help from a teacher they have a teacher online who can help and probably give a better answer. Now that being said I do not want to be replaced by this tool. Yet I want to create the confidence and independence of my students to be able to search a question on their own and be able to find an answer. I think this app will and can help with that.
